  29. which included the period of the Asian financial crisis in late 1997/98. This paper analyses
  30. the nutritional implications of the changes in terms of the level and composition of calorie
  31. intake and the prevalence of undernourishment. The analysis reveals a divergence, during this
  32. period, between the magnitude and the movement of the undernourishment and food
  33. expenditure poverty rates. The results reveal a sharp divide between rural and urban
  34. households, and between calorie-deprived and calorie-satisfied households. While this period
  35. witnessed significant improvement in calorie intake, the dietary changes do not appear to
  36. have been large enough to address the issue of protein deficiency in the Indonesian diet. The
  37. results point to the need for policy interventions and information campaigns to ensure an
  38. increase in both the quantity and quality of the calorie intake." name="eprints.abstract" />

  222. which included the period of the Asian financial crisis in late 1997/98. This paper analyses&#13;
  223. the nutritional implications of the changes in terms of the level and composition of calorie&#13;
  224. intake and the prevalence of undernourishment. The analysis reveals a divergence, during this&#13;
  225. period, between the magnitude and the movement of the undernourishment and food&#13;
  226. expenditure poverty rates. The results reveal a sharp divide between rural and urban&#13;
  227. households, and between calorie-deprived and calorie-satisfied households. While this period&#13;
  228. witnessed significant improvement in calorie intake, the dietary changes do not appear to&#13;
  229. have been large enough to address the issue of protein deficiency in the Indonesian diet. The&#13;
  230. results point to the need for policy interventions and information campaigns to ensure an&#13;
